Updated ALC Alligator Couplers Technical Documentation
With the ongoing company-wide revision of Terwa's technical literature, we have released an updated version of the technical documentation for our ALC Alligator Couplers. This update follows the recent release of the revised 1D Threaded Anchor Lifting System documentation and represents the next step within this project.
As part of this revision, the ALC 40 product family has been refined to further optimize the design for Ø40 mm reinforcing bars. The revised technical documentation reflects these product improvements and provides the latest technical information and application details.

ALC 40 Alligator Coupler
The ALC 40 Alligator Coupler is a mechanical coupler designed for connecting Ø40 mm reinforcing bars. To accommodate the larger bar diameter, this version features an integrated reinforcement tube that improves the fixation and positioning of the reinforcing bar during installation. In addition, the coupler includes a central inspection hole, allowing visual verification of the correct bar insertion depth.
ALC-AP 40 Alligator End Coupler
The ALC-AP 40 Alligator End Coupler is a mechanical anchorage solution designed to provide dead-end anchorage for Ø40 mm reinforcing bars in concrete. The system consists of an ALC 40 Alligator Coupler with an end plate welded to one side, allowing tensile forces to be transferred directly into the concrete through the anchorage plate. By replacing traditional hooked bar ends, the ALC-AP 40 helps reduce reinforcement congestion, improve reinforcement layout and simplify detailing in heavily reinforced areas. An additional advantage is the straightforward installation, as no special preparation of the reinforcing bar is required.
ALC-SK 40 Alligator Continuity Coupler
The ALC-SK 40 Alligator Continuity Coupler is designed to provide reinforcement continuity for Ø40 mm reinforcing bars across construction joints without the need to drill through the formwork. It is also suitable for precast concrete element connections, providing an efficient and practical solution for maintaining reinforcement continuity in applications involving large bar diameters.
