Leadenhall Building, London Uk
About the project: The Leadenhall building is one of the tallest leading skyscrapers within the skyline of London located in the financial district. It is designed by Richard Rogers from Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners. The building is 225 metres high and has a distinctive wedge-shaped profile in an angle of 10° degrees. Due to its characteristic shape the Londoners nicknamed the building the “Cheese grater”. It has a tapered glass façade on one side which reveals the steel bracings along with a ladder frame to highlight the vertical appearance of the building. The steal “Megaframe” provides stability to the entire structure and is world’s largest in its kind. The megaframe was created in Northern Ireland and is divided in eight sections. Each section is 28 metres high and contains seven floors. Special heavy duty cranes had to be made to lift the steel frame into position. More than 80% of the components were prefabricated off-site and assembled on site. The construction began in autumn 2011 and was finished in July 2014. In total, more than 18.000 tons of steel have been processed in the construction. Nowadays the Leadenhall building houses various companies/multinationals and offers a unobstructed view across the city of London and beyond.
Used: For the construction of the Leadenhall Building our PSA and TSE anchors have been used.
